William left leeds Boys Modern and was an apprentice in Mechanical engineering, William joined up in Leeds originally into the Royal Army Service Corps service Number 22048.
And in 1916 he was transferred to the welsh Fusiliers. He was in France only Six weeks when he was severly injured and succumbed to wounds recieved on the 26th August 1917 at one of the many Field Hospitals at Etaples.
