Wilfred was the son of Charles Ambrose Born Leeds 1862 and Sarah Ann Sergeant Born Hunsingore Yorkshire 1860, they married in 1885 at Hunsingore near Wetherby.
Wilfred left Leeds Boys Modern and moved in August 1914 to Bournmouth, and it can be presumed he joined the Royal fusiliers there, he was promoted to Platoon Sergeant and was sent to France in July 1915.
In July 1916 Wilfred was recommended for a commision after being wounded by shrapnel near Neuve Chapelle, and after recovering was sent to Officer Training School in November 1916.
In March 1917 as a 2nd Lieutenant with his old Company Wilfred went back to France, Wilfred lost his life near Arras in May 1917.
