JAMES IS REMEBERED ON THE VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL
James was the son of Charles Born Leeds 1860 a Plumber and Glazier and Anie Maria Wood Born Leeds 1862 who married in 1880 at Leeds.
James was brought up in Hyde Park Leeds, on leaving Leeds Modern he worked as an apprentice in Albion Street Leeds to a firm of soliceters.
He enlisted on the 19th February 1917 and trained at Rugeley Camp in Leicestershire, being posted to France in January 1918, James was gassed in April 1918 and was sent to hospital to recover.
James remained at the hospital until August 1918 and rejoined his regiment going straight into action giving his life on the 14th September 1918.

James lies where he fell to this day and is rememberd on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial.
