James was the brother of Henry (mentioned on last page) James left school and worked for the London and Liverpool Globe Assurance Company in Leeds.
James and another Gibson brother Tom enlisted in London into the London Scottish Regiment in which their eldest brother Henry was already serving.
James completed his training and was lost in the great advance at the Battle for Albert Somme on the first of July 1916, he lies where he fell to this day.
