Henry was the eldest of six brothers five of whom fought in the Great War, after leaving Leeds Boys Modern Henry went in to Banking, and in August 1914 held the position of cashier at Cooke and Sons Bank London.
When war broke out Henry was already in training with the 1st Bn of the London Scottish Regiment, and he was sent to France in October 1914.
Henry gave his life in the battle for Messines Ridge the first real battle of the war and the first real loss for the British Army, Henry lies where he fell to this day.
