Harold was the son of Herbert Henry Born Methley near Leeds 1871 and Lucy Blanche Lake, Born Leeds 1874, who were married at Leeds Registry Office in 1895. Harold had a brother Frederick Norman Born Hunslet Leeds 1897.
On leaving leeds Boys Modern Harry worked as an apprentice in Park square leeds under the guidence of Mr S. Hey.
In March 1916 Harry joined the Royal Engineers being trained in Aldershot. And was posted to Egypt with the British Expeditionary Force in July 1916 and was involved in the advance from El Arish to Jaffa.
In February 1917 Harry was commisioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 1/7th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment the Leeds Rifles.
Harry was sent to France in the November of 1917 and then onto Belgium at the beginning of 1918. In March of that year it was reported he was killed by accident while giving instructions to a squad at revolver practice.
