George was the son of Henry a Railway Clerk Born Holbeck Leeds 1861 and Ann Born leeds 1862, George had sisters Maud and Gertrude.
George left school to become an apprentice in Hunslet Leeds, and in 1914 enlisted into the army.
He joined the Legion of Frontiersmen, and was attached to the 25th Royal Fusiliers.
In April 1915 George set sail for British East africa, where he fought for two years and at which time he was promoted to Lance Corporal.
in the July of 1917 George contracted Blackwater Fevever and passed away at the end of July.

"Son of Mrs. A. Swales (formerly Ellis), of 5, Norfolk Terrace, Chapel Allerton, Leeds, England, and the late Henry Ellis."
