FRANK DEAN CHIPPINDALE

BORN: Guiseley near Leeds.
ENLISTED: Leeds February 1916.
GAVE HIS LIFE: 10/04/1918.
AGED: 28.
CEMETERY: Tyne Cot Cemetery Belgium.
PANEL: 82 to 85 and 162A.
Frank was the son of Harold an Architect Born Guiseley 1863 and Louisa Dean Born Cleckheaton 1867 they married at Cleckheaton in 1885, they also had daughters Marian Born 1888 and Winifred Born 1891 both in Guiseley.
Frank left Leeds Modern and attended the Leeds School of art and worked in his fathers business as an Architect and Surveyor in Leeds moving for a short time to London.
Frank enlisted in February 1916 as a Private in the Duke of Wellingtons West Riding Regiment soon being promoted to the rank of officer.
After training Frank was sent to France where it was reported he gave his life in action at Erkingen in April 1916. Erkingen is actually south of Stuttgart Germany could it be he was a prisoner of war ? he is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial to the missing.
Finally it has to be noted that Frank's Surname is spelt wrong on the CWGC website It is ChippIndale and not ChippEndale.
