Ernestwas the brother of Thomas Bennett mentioned on the next page. After leaving Leeds Boys Modern Ernest worked in the woolen trade, and in September 1914 enlisted into the Leeds Pals West Yorkshire Regiment at Leeds Town Hall.


Ernest lost his life on the morning of the 1st July 1916 and lies where he fell to this day.
