Edwin was the son of Edwin Born Armley 1832 and Evirilda Annie Todd Born Fulford York 1865 they married in Wetherby West Yorkshire in 1897.
Edwin left school and worked as an assistant cashier and was the secretary of the local Sunday school in Upper Armley Leeds, he was also in the Lads Brigade being a Sergeant, and was a Captain in the Football and Cricket teams.
In March 1917 Edwin joined the Yorkshire Hussars Service Number 331303, and trained with them in Bridlington, gaining the rank of Lance Corporal.
On Easter Sunday 31st March 1918 Arthur set sail for France, and was transferred with the rest of the Yorkshire Hussars to the 2nd Bn West Yorkshire Regiment.
Arthur was reported missing on the 27th May 1918 on the Le Chemin Des Dames Road, and lies where he fell to this day he is remembered on the Soissons Memorial.
