CHRISTOPHER IS REMEMBERED ON THE LOOS MEMORIAL IN DUD CORNER CEMETERY.
The CWGC shows the following details.
"Son of Phillip and Hannah Harris, of 14, Newport View, Headingley, Leeds."
Christopher was the son of Philip Born Cinderford Gloucestershire 1867, and Hannah Born Leeds 1866.
Christopher played sports for both his house and school first team, and was member of the Boys Rifle Brigade.
At the outbreak of war he joined the Royal ASrmy Maintanence Corps which his father was already serving in , this was dispite Christopher being underage.
On his 18th birthday Christophewr applied for a commision and was accepted as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 6th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment.
After training he was sent to France with the 49th Division and lost his life whilst on patrol.
His commanding officer Major General Percival wrote to Christopher's father:
" I have seldom had as good reports on any officer as those recieved about your son. He was undoubtedly a very gallent officer, with great military ability, and had done a great deal of valuable work in his Battalion in spite of his being only twenty years of age".
