Christopher was the son of George a painter and decorater and Annie Elizabeth. Christopher won a brown scholership at the University of Leeds after attending Leeds Boys Modern.
He passed an engineering course with merit gaining a B,Sc and becoming an associate member of the institute of civil engineers.
Christopher worked for Leeds City Council at the Leeds Sewerage works. In 1914 Christopher joined the Leeds University Officer Training Corps and was shortly gazetted to the Royal Engineers as a 2nd Lieutenant.
Christopher was mentioned in General Haigs dispatches, and it was reported at the time that he was personnaly congratulated by United States General Pershing.
Christopher was reported to have been hit by shell fire and was taken to Duhallow Advanced Dressing Station near Ieper Belgium where he passed away and was layed to rest in the Cemetery next to the Dressing Station.
The CWGC gives the following details
"Son of the late George and Annie Elizabeth Barker; brother of Maggie Hunt, of The Gables, 1st Avenue,Leeds Rd.,Wakefield."
