Charles was the son of Charles John Born Kegworth Leicestershire 1864 and Fanny Middleton Born Morley near Leeds 1854, they married in Wolverhampton in 1891. Charles had a sister Marion Born in London in 1890.
After leaving Leeds Boys Modern Charles became an engineer and joined the Leeds Territorial Field Artillery in 1911.
Charles went to France in April 1915 with the 49th Division. And in 1916 his five (5) year service expired and as a result he re enlisted intpo the Trench Morter Battery.
Charles was badly gassed on the 2nd July 1917 and never recovered from the effects, passing away on the 27th July 1917.
