Benjamin was the son of Benjamin Born Kirklington yorkshire 1846 and Sarah Born Dewsbury 1857.
After leaving Leeds Boys Modern School Benjamin was accepted into the Leeds Boys Grammer School, and worked for Leeds City Council as a town clerk,
In November 1914 Benjamin was Gazetted into the 2/5th Bn West Riding Regiment, and proceeded to France.
Benjamin lost his life in the mud field's of Passendale Belgium in October 1917 and lies in peace near the town of Ieper Belgium.
