Arthur was the eldest son of Arthur Haigh and Clara Riley who married in Halifax in 1886 and were living in Hyde Park when Arthur enlisted.
He gained access to Leeds Boys Modern by achieving a Leeds Junior School Scholership, and by 1915 had become a school burser with the aim of going into the teaching profession.
He was accepted to University in 1916 however the lure of joing the Army was too much and he enlisted into the Durham Light Infantry.
he lost his life in December 1917 and lies where he fell to this day.
