The CWGC shows the following details.
"Son of Arthur Herbert and Kate Fillingham, of 3, The Crescent, Street Lane, Roundhay, Leeds."
Arthur was the son of Arthur Herbert Born Hunslet Leeds 1864 and Kate Ramsden Born Hunslet Leeds 1867, they married at Hunslet in 1893. Arthur had a brother John and sisters Grace and Kate.
Arthur had held a choral scholership at Lincoln Cathedral before joining leeds Boys Modern at the age of 15, he was a keen sportsman and played for the school cricket team.
After leaving school Arthur worked for the Legal and General Assurance Company in Leeds City Centre.
And in August 1914 at Leeds Town Hall he enlisted into the Leeds Pals the 15th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment, serving in Egypt then France after training at Colsterdale, Ripon and Salisbury.
Like many old Leeds Modern Boys Arthur lost his life on the attack of Serre village near Albert and lies where he fell to this day.
