Albert lies at peace in the Vlamertinge New Military Cemetery.
Albert was the son of Edwin Alvan the Estate Agent for the Stanhope Estate, Born Goole yorkshire 1851 and Mary Clarissa Westerman Born Goole Yorkshire 1855, they married in 1886 at Horsforth near Leeds.
Albert left Leeds Boys Modern to study Engineering and attended London University, he was also working at a solicitors as an Articulated Clerk, and when war broke out in August 1914 Albert was a managing clerk at Mumford and Johnstone of Bradford.
In October 1914 Albert joined the Royal Artillery as an officer, and in the March of 1915 was sent to France with the 108th Brigade.
Albert was promoted to Lieutenant and sent to join the 177th Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery, and leading his men in action lost his life on the 20th August 1917 near Ieper Belgium at one of the Field Hospitals near where he now lies.
